"Serene" By Kimerlee Curyl Open Edition 29" x 22" $45.00 Open Edition Canvus Transfer 29" x 22" $215.00 Be sure to read these stories about Kimerlee Curyl's images, they truly are touching! "Liberty Dance" "Hopi," a wild stallion, was captured on the Navajo Reservation in New Mexico. He was sold at auction for ten cents a pound to a horse trader that planned to use him for illegal Charro Rodeos. Fortunately, this scared stallion and his pregnant mare, "Shoshona," were saved and sent to live at Return To Freedom Sanctuary, where they are shown prancing, dancing and running free with their young son. "Partners" "Bear," a stunning grulla stallion and this mare, "Redbird," were born wild, but were captured from the Sulphur Springs Herd Area. They are among the fortunate Mustangs who now roam freely at Return To Freedom Sanctuary in Santa Barbara County, California. Kimerlee Curyl has captured a beautiful moment of a natural partnership in perfect sync. "Chief" & "Chief And His Mare" "Chief" is a magnificent stallion from the Sulphur Springs Herd Management Area in Utah. After his capture, he endured various forms of abuse and even starvation. Now, at Return To Freedom Sanctuary, he proudly protects a beautiful herd of healthy mares. He is an example of the strength and dignity of these naturally wild creatures. _______________________________________________________________________ Even though the Hollywood dream is what moved Kimerlee here from Mpls, MN in ‘92. She remembers telling her mother around the age of 14 she would live surrounded by mountains and horses. Finally in 2004 a little girls dream came true and everything shifted focus. Pounding the Hollywood pavement gave way to the pounding of hooves through the Griffith Park Mountains with a camera at her side. A passion for photography most of her life, she is self taught and now works full time shooting for actors, producers and many equine clients: editorial and personal photo shoots. A dedicated commitment to helping save America’s Horses, she works with Neda DeMayo, Founder of Return to Freedom-The American Wild Horse Sanctuary. Kimerlee has immersed herself into these herds. Countless hours have been spent studying their dynamics and earning their trust. While watching light, sound and wind she is capturing their stories. Her hope is to inspire others, not only to observe their beauty, but also take an interest in helping preserve their place on this land. The same land that without them we would have never traveled across. Her work has appeared in Cowboys & Indians, Calabassas, Horse Connection, BeE Woman, Blaze Magazines and The Hollywood Reporter. She has donated images to the HSUS in efforts to help with the wild horse issue at hand. Kimerlee’s work is fast growing the attention of many galleries and collectors. Her show, Spirit & Freedom debuted in August 2007 at A Studio Gallery in Los Angeles with record breaking gallery sales. “All horses are treasures to this land. To lose them would be a tragically irresponsible disrespect to out past, present and future. To me photography and horses are revealing, they celebrate spirit and honesty. What inspires me most is what is already there, available light and subjects. Everyday there is an opportunity to catch something beautiful.” ~Kimerlee Curyl |
